Last Minute Christmas Gift Idea - DIY Sugar Scrub

Christmas is coming... Do you have gifts for everyone on your list? If you answered, no, let's make this awesome DIY sugar scrub! This scrub is especially great during winter months when our skin gets dehydrated, thanks to the super moisturizing oils!

What you will need:

  • 1 1/4 cup of white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of any carrier oil (Avocado, Grapeseed, Apricot, Fractionated Coconut oil, etc.)
  • 10 drops of any essential oil (or blend of oil) of your choice
  • Gift container (or DIY one )

Step #1

In a mixing bowl combine sugar, carrier oil and 10 drops of any essential oil. You may use slightly more or less carrier oil, but I find the proportion posted above is the best.

For carrier oil, I usually use any oil except regular cooking oils (Canola, Olive) as I find their scents not very appealing. But it's up to you! Cooking oils will work the same way. As for essential oils, I like sweet orange, lavender, pine or blends. You may choose any scent you like.

Step #2

Package the scrub in a proper container, decorate, add gift tags.

Some packaging ideas:
  • small (or big!) mason jar decorated with ribbons and/ or labels
  • DIY decorated container from an old hair mask or scrub.
  • You may add a gift box if you wish
Step #3

Gift! This scrub is an excellent gift for Christmas, Mother's Day or any other occasion. I personally make quite a few jars every winter for myself. This scrub is much more cost effective than store-bought sugar scrubs and contains no preservatives.

Tip! You may substitute white sugar for brown sugar for a more coarse scrub. Also, the recipe should work with sea salt scrub if you choose to make one!
